Randomly Selected
I was randomly selected and summoned for jury duty.
When I made the call the night before, I was hoping I wouldn’t be needed. After all, I had a lot of work that needed to get done.
As I listened to the recording, I learned that I did in fact need to report in. That’s when I decided to make the best of it.
At the beginning, we were shown a video that explained the court process and reminded us all that this “duty” was actually a very important service that we were providing.
Afterwards, we would sit in silence and wait to see if we were called.
Somehow this gave me permission to just relax and be. It felt good.
I had packed some snacks, had a pocketbook that needed organizing and a piece of writing to work on. I was thoroughly enjoying my time.
Then, it hit me.
Earlier in the week, I shared that I planned to take a day off of work later in the month. I felt like I needed a day just to be and reconnect with me.
Was I really “randomly selected”?
I believe I was chosen.
This was my God-given vacation day and I was thrilled to be of service.
Ultimately, I was serving myself.
Wow . . .
“Choose to take good care.”
