Holy Shift

Feeling a little sluggish on a Monday morning, I used my morning quiet time to get refreshed and to renew my spirit. I pushed myself to do some things to help me feel good.

For one, I made the decision to step away from my work at lunchtime that day. (I have the tendency to eat at my desk and work through it.) I decided to spend some time outdoors in the sunshine, to stop by the grocery store and pick up some needed items and to enjoy the mid-day break.

Making this commitment to myself and writing it down was very powerful. It shifted my mood and energized my being.

When lunchtime came and I got in my car, the remainder of the podcast I had been listening to on the way to work continued to play. In that moment, the speaker suggested that we go outside for 20-30 minutes with no one else and with no distractions and let our hearts be open to astonishment, to wonder and to the present moment.

As I drove off, with the sun shining on my face, I felt the warmth of God right beside me. It felt good.

I then stopped by the store to pick up a few items. I considered using the self-checkout, but was drawn to a particular cashier instead.

She was especially friendly and our interaction felt especially good. It seemed to align with my renewed spirit.

As she put my items in a bag and began bidding me a good day, she called me by name. When she saw the surprised look on my face, she smiled and said my loyalty card gave it away.

“Of course,” I thought.

That’s when I decided to look at her name tag so I could return the kind gesture.

I smiled back and without thinking about my words I said,

“Thank you, Angel.”

Wow . . .

“Life is Good.”

Here’s to more WOW Moments!

With love,

Lucy
