Be Encouraged

When my children were young, they both enjoyed drawing and coloring. They would sit at the kitchen table, in their booster seats, for a long time doing so.

Never a fan of coloring books, where things are “pre-drawn” and the implication is to color within the lines, I would supply them with sheets of blank white paper. This way, they were free to be creative and express themselves.

Children have a lot to say and we can learn so much from them. They learn a lot from us too. Some things we teach directly. Most things, I think, we teach indirectly.

The picture included here is one that my daughter drew. Shortly after she created it, I hung it in my home office. I needed the encouragement it provided.

Today my children are grown and a few years ago I had an astonishing realization. That is, long after they leave the house, turn a certain age or some other situation unfolds – the role of a mother continues.

The way in which we mother changes, but the goal – for me – remains the same.

Ultimately, they are children of God. I want and encourage them to seek Him, to rely on Him for guidance, direction, wisdom, courage, strength, peace and all good things.

Truth is, we are all His children. We’ve been commanded to obey Him.

It’s not always easy and it’s always worth it.

This drawing is still hanging in my office.

Wow . . .

“Stick with it.”

Here’s to more WOW Moments!
