Believe You Can

I had a dream that I was taking my stretching class and at the end the instructor made an announcement.

“There will be a prize,” she said. “For anyone who can do a headstand.”

“A headstand?” I thought.

This is something I used to do with just a little effort (which is true.)

As I attempted this is my dream, my body would not cooperate.

The next morning, while reflecting on this dream, I wondered.

Is this something I can still do?

I thought about how I would feel if I could and how I would feel if I couldn’t.

Lately, I am being reminded that there are phases in life where we give things up. Things that, for various reasons, no longer fit our lifestyle.

Some things we gladly release with great joy. Other things we grip tightly, afraid of what life will be like without them.

It’s during these fearful times, I believe, that we have the greatest opportunity to grow, to learn and to be even more.

We can choose to grow our faith, to learn how powerless we are without it and to be still – very still - so that we really know.

After pondering this a bit more, I thought about giving it a try.

Then, decided not to.

Well, this was after I moved the rug up against the wall, got down on my knees, anchored my hands on the floor and lowered my head.

It was too early in the morning.

“Maybe later.” I thought.

“Maybe not.” I heard in my head.

Besides, there wouldn’t really be a prize and I already have the best prize ever.

My faith.

Wow . . .

“Exercise your faith even more.”

Here’s to more WOW Moments!
