Feeling Droopy

Earlier this fall we had some landscaping done in our backyard. When the job was complete, I was given instructions through text about how to care for our new plants.

At first glance, I thought I was being told to sing to the plants. As I read the text more carefully, I realized she was telling me how long to water them.

If I sang “Happy Birthday” twice while watering the big plants and once for the smaller ones, it would be the right amount of water.

The problem was I let time slip away and didn’t do it soon enough. By the time I went to water them everything was looking droopy and so was I.

That’s when I decided to substitute the birthday song with a few “Our Fathers” and several “Hail Mary’s”.

I texted our landscaper and told her I was praying that they would be forgiving.

Thankfully, they were. They perked up and so did I.

I was so thankful.

As I reflected on this, I was reminded of a few powerful things that can give us the lift we need.

1. Drink plenty of water.

2. Pray.

3. Be forgiving.

Wow . . .

“Don’t let time slip away.”
