Give Us This Day

Your Father knows what you need before you ask. Matthew 6:8

I have heard and read these words many times.

Earlier this week when I read them, they seemed to jump off the page and really get my attention. It was if I was learning this for the first time.

He knows even before I ask?

I don’t have to explain myself?

Sometimes I don’t even know what I need.

Life can be confusing. It’s full of mixed messages, tricky temptations and distractions galore.

It’s easy for our priorities to get out of order, for us to forget what’s really important and for us not to put first things first.

Thankfully our Father, who art in heaven, knows what we need before we ask.

And, he still wants to hear from us.

He wants us to talk to him, to share our feelings, concerns and what we think we need. Spending time with Him, deepens our connection and our relationship with Him.

In the process of doing so, we are often able to sort things out, clarify our needs and are reminded of what matters most.

Then, as humans, we can easily be triggered and lose sight of it all again.

We must return to our Father to sustain us - day by day.

Wow . . .
