Got Power

With the forecast of a winter storm and lots of talk of potential power outages, I was reminded of a moment that I wrote about years ago and included in my book. I share it below, along with the questions included in the book.

Lesson 22: The Power Within

Earlier today we lost our power. Whenever this happens I find myself thinking about what I can and can’t do around the house.

I can take a shower, but I can’t dry my hair. I can wash dishes, but I can’t do laundry. I can dust, but I can’t vacuum. And, even though I know the lights won’t work, I find myself flipping the switch when I enter the room. It’s a habit.

As I reflected on this, I started thinking about the power we have within us. We have the power to choose love in a hateful situation, the power to choose peace when surrounded by stress and the power to let go even when it is scary to do so.

Instead of flipping the switch, we sometimes walk around in the dark nurturing our negative emotions. Today’s short power outage reminded me that the power within me is always available. It’s up to me to tap into it.

Wow . . .

“Flip the switch and use your power.”

Questions to Ponder:

·       What area of your life feels a bit dark right now?

·       How ready and willing are you to shed some light on this situation?

·       If you tapped into the power that lies within you, how might your situation be different?

Years later, reflecting on this concept, I know it to be true and even more powerful than you or I can imagine.

The Spirit of God dwells in us.

It doesn’t get any better than this – with or without electricity.

Wow . . .

“Plug into it.

Here’s to more WOW Moments!
