Just For Fun

I was having a coaching conversation with someone who wanted to think about how her life might be in five years.

Not knowing where to begin, I suggested we go around The Wheel of Life and consider each area and how she wanted it to look five years from now.

Thirty minutes later she had a much clearer picture of what she wanted and how she might move forward towards this vision.

One aspect that came up was her desire to spend more time outdoors. She reminisced about how much she enjoyed being outside as a child.

As she spoke about the outdoors, I could hear the joy in her voice and the lightness in her body.

When we are young and more carefree, we tend to choose activities based on our desires rather than outside influences – such as pleasing others, making money or doing the popular thing.

It was so satisfying for her to realize that this was something she wanted more of in her life.

When the coaching session was over, she asked me about the volunteer work I started doing at the beginning of this year.

“I am really enjoying it.” I told her. “It reminds me of something fun I did in high school.”

In that moment, we mirrored each other.

Both our jaws dropped, our eyes widened and locked as we looked through the zoom camera and she shouted, “WOW Moment!”

Wow . . .

“Nurture the child within.”

Here’s to more WOW Moments!
