No Rush
These days, I typically go to the grocery store during the week. This time, however, I went to pick up a few things on Saturday morning.
As I approached the register an elderly lady with a few less things in her cart arrived at the register at the same time.
“Go ahead,” I said and motioned to her.
“Are you sure?” she asked. “We are together.”
That’s when I noticed another elderly lady coming up behind her with a cart of her own.
“Yes, please.” I responded.
Eager to talk she continued, “We aren't in a rush and have plenty of time. I am just too short and I can’t reach everything.”
“I understand,” I said. “I have the time too.”
It was endearing to watch these two ladies help each other as they made their purchases.
When it was my turn, I created a couple of pauses with price checks and such.
I looked at the man behind me and apologized for the delay.
He smiled and said, “No rush. I have the time.”
Amazed at how prevalent and good this feeling was I smiled back and said, “Thank you.”
In that moment, I was reminded of Matthew Kelly’s concept – slowing down to the speed of joy.
Wow . . .
“It’s a Good pace.”
Here’s to more WOW Moments!
