“When the day of Pentecost came, they were all in one place together.”
Acts 2:1
I love reflecting on that first Pentecost when the Holy Spirit filled the entire house where the apostles were. What an amazing, special and important day in history.
I also love remembering my Confirmation Day which occurred on Pentecost Sunday when I was a teenager, many years ago. We had a big celebration at our home afterwards.
My mom had it catered by, what I remember to be, a fancy restaurant in town. They brought food in chafing dishes and, for us - back then - it was a big deal.
It was a moment in my life that felt very special and very important.
I felt special.
My faith felt very important.
It was. It is. And, it always will be.
The power of the Holy Spirit is tremendous. It’s the same force that created the universe, that raised Jesus from the dead and we - you and I, all of us - have access to it.
We are invited to cooperate with this power, allowing Him to guide us. To live and act in a way that glorifies God. When we fall short, turn away or go astray, we are invited to return to Him anew.
Today I’ll be gathering with my family. It’s the first time we will all be in our new place together.
It will be special.
For many reasons.
No chafing dishes. Just burgers and grilled chicken sandwiches on paper plates.
Of course, we’ll start with an antipasto and end with coffee and my mom’s Italian cookies.
I’m inviting the Holy Spirit to fill the entire house and each of us with the fire of His love.
Wow . . .
“Come, Holy Spirit.”
Here’s to more WOW Moments!
