Planting Seeds
About this time last year, something random started growing in one of the potted plants on my deck. I decided to let it be and see what it might become.
As it continued to grow, I began to recognize it for what it was. It was some beautiful and bright sunflowers.
They are such happy flowers and one of my favorites. I love how they just appeared in my pot and showed up for me.
Out of curiosity, I looked up “sunflower” to see what meaning might be associated with it. I found things like “unwavering faith” and “constant orientation toward the light”. What a great example of how we too best grow and flourish.
This year, when I saw a random growth beginning to take root in one of my pots, I thought it was going to be more sunflowers.
As it continued to grow, I continued to think of it as a sunflower. Until, that is, I could no longer ignore what I clearly saw.
It was a corn stalk!
A-maize-ing!
When I looked this up, I found that a corn stalk can be “a symbol of longevity, prosperity, protection and spirituality.”
As I reflected on this more, I thought about how seeds are always being planted whether we realize it or not.
There are many different types of seeds in this world including seeds of faith and seeds of doubt, seeds of love and those of fear.
I am reminded to pay attention and be mindful of what is growing in and around me – to notice what it is and what it isn’t. I am also reminded that we have been told over and over again to not be afraid.
Wow . . .
“Stand rooted and firm in your faith.”
Here’s to more WOW Moments!
