Thinking About Work

Enjoying this long Labor Day weekend with more time to think and be, I was struck by the scripture reading for today. It tells us to “be transformed by the renewal of your mind.” Romans 12:2

I believe that many of us have come to know that changing how we think about things, changes the things we think about. Or, at the very least, it changes us and our relationship to these things.

This same verse goes on to say that by transforming the mind;

“You may discern
the will of God,
what is good
and pleasing
and perfect.”

That is a pretty tall order.

And, for me, it is also a good reminder of who my real boss is.

I am here to do God’s will and I am constantly learning how His will can look very different than mine. I still have much to learn and am a work in progress.

The verse begins by saying, “Do not conform yourselves to this age.”

This gives me even more to ponder.

The work we do, whether in or outside the home, as a volunteer or paid employee, whatever the work is, can completely change when we change our mindset.

Wow . . .

“Work on the thinking.”

Below is a clip that offers some perspective on this.
