Seventh Inning
I recently attended a LinkedIn Workshop with my coaching colleagues.
As I reviewed my work experience on LinkedIn, I was reminded of how all my roles (outside of coaching and including the one from early on that I deleted) have lasted about 7 years.
Reflecting on this, I thought about the seventh-inning stretch that happens in the game of baseball.
The purpose, as I understand it, is to stand up and stretch. It’s a scheduled time to take a break, move around, to maybe sing or be entertained before the game continues.
Stretching is good. It helps us reach what we might not otherwise.
Coaching helps us stretch.
Pondering my game of life, with each career transition occurring around the 7 year mark, I was definitely given the opportunity to stretch each time.
The thing that remained consistent is my desire to serve others. How I do so has changed over time.
I have spent the past year in a volunteer role that I had wanted to do for quite some time. It certainly stretches me.
You can see what it is in my profile. I just added it. Right after the workshop.
The truth is, there is always more we can learn and improve.
And, we never really know how many innings there will be. In baseball or in life.
Wow . . .
“Stretch.”
Here’s to more WOW Moments!
