On Paper
While contemplating a decision I asked myself, “Does it sometimes make sense to do something even when “on paper” it doesn’t make much sense?”
That’s when, logically, I pulled out my journal and started writing out my thoughts.
As I did, I remembered what I heard a pastoral counselor say about discerning a decision.
Dr. Greg Popcak suggests that the life God wants for us is always characterized by meaningfulness, intimacy and virtue.
The questions we can ask ourselves in the discernment process are:
Will this allow me to use my gifts in a meaningful way to be a blessing to others and make a positive difference?
Will this foster intimacy by creating a deeper, stronger, healthier and more honest relationship with God and others?
Will this provide an opportunity to grow in virtue by becoming a stronger, healthier, holier person – that is, more fully the person God made me to be?
There is much to ponder here and I pray that it serves you in some way.
The process of journaling has always been very helpful for me. It gets things out and on paper and always leads me to a peaceful feeling.
Isn’t that what we all want?
Wow . . .
“Write on.”
Here’s to more WOW Moments!
