Peace Be With You
When I was in high school, I received the sacrament of Confirmation on Pentecost Sunday.
Confirmation is when the promises of Baptism are renewed, our lives are enriched with the gifts of the Holy Spirit and a commitment is made to follow Jesus and help build the church.
I remember that day fondly and how special it was for me.
It was a big deal to have my aunt from New York fly down to Virginia (where I lived then) to be my confirmation sponsor.
My mom, who is the best cook I know, decided to have the food catered. This was out of character for her and unusual for our family. Somehow it made it extra special and it made me feel extra special too.
I felt loved, worthy and at peace.
As I reflect on this now, I recognize even more how the Spirit was at work on that day.
The actions of others were speaking to me in ways that God knew I needed.
I want to do this for you and others too.
Know that you are loved, worthy and can be at peace with the help of the Holy Spirit.
Wow . . .
“Come Holy Spirit, show us the way.”
Here’s to more WOW Moments!
