Remodeling?
A friend of mine sent me a reflection about a house this week and I have been pondering it ever since.
It was a parable about God rebuilding a house, and seeing ourselves as that living house.
At first He does some obvious things that we know need to be done. He stops some leaks, fixes the drains and makes a few other improvements that don’t really surprise us.
But, then.
Oh, then.
He starts doing things that are actually painful and don’t seem to make sense and we wonder why and what is happening.
The explanation given is that He is building us – quite a different house than the one we thought of, or ever expected.
God, Himself, plans to live in this house.
We may have been okay with a comfortable little cottage, while He is building a palace.
It can be a long and sometimes painful process – but it’s the reason we are here.
As I thought more about this analogy, I remembered a recent shift that occurred in me.
I went from having a very negative thought to one that was completely opposite. I know it was God, with my cooperation, who reconstructed my thinking.
It was much like the hole in the garage wall we just had repaired. Looking at the wall now, you would never know it was there.
God is good.
He does good work.
We must allow and invite Him in.
Wow . . .
“Yes, transform me.”
Here’s to more WOW Moments!
