Showered by Love

After many dry and hot summer days, I was eager to experience the rain that was forecasted.

It began after dinner and when it did, I went outside to sit on our covered deck.

The temperature dropped, a breeze began and I was filled with joy.

It was very peaceful and felt heavenly.

“This,” I thought. “This is my new favorite thing.”

I felt refreshed and energized.

There was something very magical about it.

I wanted to stay there all night.

As I pondered this, I realized it was less about the environment and more about what I brought to it.

Earlier that day, I received an unexpected phone call from a friend on my way home from work. While it started with us chatting about some challenges, we quickly turned the conversation to what was going well.

As we focused on the good, my spirit was lifted and so was my mood.

I was able to articulate some specific and intentional actions I took that day from a place of love.

Later, when I sat in the rain, I felt like I was being showered with love ten hundredfold.
