Weather, Or Not
One of my winter stressors in recent years, was feeling like I had to drive in questionable conditions.
Unlike the years I worked in the school system or for a nonprofit, where we would close or delay our start time, I found myself in a position where I felt like I needed to be there.
One winter morning with quite a few inches of snow on the ground, I got stuck down the street from my house. I couldn’t get out of my neighborhood. I left my car there, trudged through the snow home and called for someone to pick me up and take me to work.
Not a good feeling.
Another winter, while at work, the snow was coming down hard and fast. It was to be a big storm and there was no early dismissal in this line of work.
I knew I didn’t want to drive home in those conditions. And, I certainly didn’t want to drive back to work the next morning in conditions that would be even worse.
So, I did what I thought was wise and a good choice for me. I stayed at work.
I slept in my office chair, fluffed my hair up in the morning and kept going.
This year has been different and I couldn’t be more grateful. No matter the weather, I get to linger in the morning enjoying my coffee and my quiet time.
As I do, I give thanks and praise.
It is so good.
I also pray for folks in positions that have to keep going to keep our world functioning and safe.
Wow . . .
“Thank you!”
